1978

Today we visited places that Michael had been to on his last visit in 1978. This included a couple of pubs and sure enough we found a man who recognized the wallpaper in one of the photos and could tell us where the photo was taken however because of renovations it was no longer recognizable. My favourite stop of the day was the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct.  Reverting to wikipedia: "it is a navigable aqueduct that carries the Llangollen Canal across the River Dee in north east Wales. The 18-arched stone and cast iron structure, which took ten years to design and build, was completed in 1805. It is now the oldest and longest navigable aqueduct on Great Britain and the highest in the world."
It is 12 feet wide, 126 feet high and 11 miles long.

  1. Memorable photos.
I do believe I dropped a half-crown in that canal.
If you see it, it is mine.
Enjoy Wales. Did you have some spring lamb?

  2. I did order lamb but unfortunately they were out (Michael says the proper way to say it is: Tried but lamb was off)
